CBC interview: holiday single for Buy Nothing Day

CBC Daybreak interviewed me about my new holiday single, “New Year’s Day” !

FINALLY: a seasonal single for those of us who can barely ‘get through’ the silly season !

It’s a sweet sonic reminder that New Year’s Day - and the comparatively blissful boredom of January - is just around the corner…

Here’s what I told Shelley Joyce (from CBC Daybreak in Kamloops about it:

November 25, 2022: On the occasion of global protest movement

Buy Nothing Day,

(started by Vancouver artist Ted Dave in 1992 and now observed in over 65 countries),

I offered my anti-consumerist-Christmas song for FREE public consumption

- one week prior to official release on all streaming platforms and the music video premiere on Dec 1st.

Play the interview to hear more of the story.

“New Year’s Day” is an upbeat seasonal single featuring the sweet vocal harmonies of Dallas duo Rodney & Tony - with Tony also lending his mad jazzy skills at those piano keys!

It was written from a place of deep dark ugly holiday angst and disgust: the commercialism, consumerism, materialism, and colonialist capitalist commodification of The Holiday Season…not to mention all the familial and financial factors that can make this a stressful time of year.

Allow this song to transmute those silly season stressors!

You will get through. :)
